Which first? Jam or Cream?

This is going to be a short post.  Mainly because I'm right and if you disagree with me you're wrong.  However my co-blogger has kindly (read persistently) asked me to right this.  So here goes.

Which delectable delight should be piled on to your scone first?  The cream or the jam?  Think about it.  Think about it harder.

Did you say jam?  If you did then sadly we can no longer be friends.  In fact, maybe you should leave.  Ok, don't leave, but you're wrong.

The cream is needed first to form a firm base for the bright and glistening jam to sit upon.  The cream is needed first to lubricate the light and fluffy scone.  The cream is needed first to enthrone the regal jam, to hold it high for all to see.

In short, it looks better that way and it tastes better that way.

So now you all know how I feel, why don't you leave me a comment and let me know your opinions.  Tell me which should go first and, more importantly, tell me why.  You won't change my mind but it would be rubbish if we were all the same, wouldn't it?

Oh, but if you're one of those people who breaks their scones up into tiny little pieces rather than nicely slicing them in two then, seriously, just leave.

I am so happy to see this post. I used to put cream on first but then was told it was wrong. So I swapped to jam first. Swapping back now!

Although this post was written with my tongue firmly in my cheek, I'm still pleased I've brought someone back from the dark side!

Jam first all the way. The cream is the best bit and needs to be on dislay. Plus the jam needs to be dolloped and spread, you cannot do that on top of cream because then it mixes and that is an offence. I live for this argument.

It has to be cream first as it holds the jam in place. Surely if the jam is in the bottom it would squidge out when you bite into it? That all said im not a massive fan of cream but def put a small amount on before the yummy jam.

Cream first! If the jam is first then the cream slides right off and that's just no good!

Definitely jam first, then cream. It's how my mum does it, it's how my family in Cornwall does it, it's even how The Ritz do it!

I'm cream first and then Jam - the correct way of doing it! Otherwise the jam disappears under the cream and it all muddles together!!

Jam then cream. Your mouth has the cream melt then hit the jam and finally the lovely scone (because those are the only kind I eat).
Ahem.
