Welcome back to Tea With Me and Friends - today we are very excited as our little blog is nearly a year old! It's been an amazing first year, we're featured over 60 different afternoon teas, including experiences from the 1950s and the 1920s! We've featured large hotels and tiny tea rooms and lots in between!
We've met pastry chefs and poked our noses into hotel kitchens, and we've featured afternoon teas from so many lovely guest bloggers. Plus we were finalists in the UK Blog Awards 2014.
Most importantly we've met loads of wonderful people, all united in our passion for a spot of afternoon tea! We can't thank you enough for your support this year and we hope you continue to join us on our afternoon tea adventures as we have lots more to share with you!
Competition Time....
We are delighted to announce that we are being joined by The Ampersand Hotel in celebrating our first blog birthday. To celebrate we are holding a little competition and The Ampersand Hotel has kindly given us a champagne afternoon tea for two to give away!

The winner of our competition is in for a lovely experience at the Ampersand Hotel, which is one of our favourite spots for tea! The present day hotel opened in the Summer of 2012 in South Kensington and is home to Head Chef Chris Golding and the talented Pastry Chef Ji Sun Shin.
What do you need to do to enter this little competition I hear you cry - well just leave us a comment under this post telling us your favourite thing about afternoon tea! You do not need a blogger profile to enter, and you do not need to follow the blog (but we would love it if you did!).
Please remember if you are visiting us from an IPhone you will need to click onto the mobile view at the bottom of this page to leave a comment in the comment box.
The boring bits....

the best thing about afternoon tea is spending quality time in beautiful surroundings with friends and family.
For me, the best thing about Afternoon Tea is the anticipation of what array of goodies is going to appear on the cake stand...and then tasting everything to make sure it tastes as good as it looks!
It has got to be the excuse to use fabulous china, elegant teapots and milk jugs and the novelty of using sugar tongs and tea strainers!
Congratulations on your first year. :-)
I think my favourite thing about afternoon tea is the anticipation right from making the booking until it's finished. It just feels special.
Happy birthday to Tea with Me and Friends!! :D Too bad I don't live in the UK so I am not eligible for the competition...
Sorry about my super late reply to your message, I have just returned from Europe! Tried the Edible Garden tea which was totally amazing. :) Regarding your suggestion of swapping posts, I can't think of anything more exciting!! ;) Let's do it! Have you got an e-mail address so I can discuss the details with you through e-mail?
Happy Blogaversary! Ooooh, my favourite thing about afternoon tea is the opportunity to indulge with friends, especially agonising over the tea menu and trying a new brew. Oooh and I love it when the scones are kept warm and the clotted cream just slightly melts into it, mmmm and the odd curve ball thrills me, if a sneaky pork pie or a quiche makes an appearance! Gah I love it all! xx
The dainty-ness of it all! I love 'minis' whole little bites that you can devour in one 'pop'! Sweet or savoury, I love it all!!
The best part about afternoon tea is that there's no washing up afterwards!
the best thing about afternoon tea is the food, naturally =)
The best thing about afternoon tea is definitely being able to experience such an array of delectable little treats! I love how each place has their own little twist on it, with some being more traditional, and others going all out like the Mad Hatter's tea! It's always great being able to treat yourself and others too!
For me it is about the whole experience, the dainty china, teapots, choice of teas and the exquisite range of cakes on offer. Plus enjoying the company of friends.
Love to relax and enjoy the fine tea and scrumptious cakes, pastries and sandwiches with someone I love. xxx
Beautiful friends, gorgeous porcelain & exquisite flavours!
My favourite bit would be all of it as it would be my first afternoon tea! x
Hi! Thanks for this competition and happy birthday! My favourite thing about afternoon tea is just to sit down, relax and indulge in some fabulous cakes!
I love the intricate buscuits in the shape of a musical instrument. My favouirte thing about afternoon tea is that it is all about decerdance. There is no rushing, you get to try new twists on a traditional afternoon tea. But best of all you get to eat the cakes first should you choose Lucy
My favourite thing about afternoon tea is that it's pure elegance : an experience of bliss, luxury ... and an excuse to eat treats and drink exquisite brews (and, if you do it right, a good way not have to cook a big dinner!!!)
Firstly big congratulations to you both; we wish you lots of luck with many future years of blogging to come, we love to read/see your afternoon tea experiences.
Ooh our favourite thing about afternoon tea would have to be...the pure vintage, comforting, family feel it brings. You can be having the worse day...but somehow homemade afternoon tea with family & family can instantly brighten your day! :-)
Being from Devon, the devonshire tea is part of our life!

Ahhh I'm obsessed with afternoon tea! Every new place I go I make it my mission to have it! What do I love about afternoon tea? I love the excitement of not knowing what the afternoon tea consists of till its put infront of you. I love the crockery... even better if its vintage and floral! I also love the selection of foods... I just love everything!

For me the best things are the China and the small daintness of it all.Everything is small and elegant. When the Vintage China doesn't match it almost adds to the charm. It is lovely to go with my mom or friends
Afternoon tea is a conduit the past, present and the future, allowing those I love to spend time with to come together to regale tales of our youth, our hopes for today and our plans for the future. Nothing beats being in that moment with cake, pals and the leaf of your choice. Also, tea rocks !
My favourite things about afternoon tea are variety and ingenuity; no two afternoon teas are ever the same!
I love the fact that the tradition of afternoon tea is so very British. Dainty sandwiches, fresh baked scones and delicious little cakes - all enjoyed at leisure with freshly brewed tea, made in a real teapot with real cups and saucers - and not a tea bag in sight!
